Website changes
Written by Loco-Mateo (admin)  -  Thursday, 17 December 2009 14:30

As you may allready have noticed there has been a lot of changes on our website. The main thing new on our site is the Venus Angels Forum. The idea behind a forum is that most of you are most accustomed with it. And it's easyness to make a topic or thread, reply to it, and start a discussion. The forum is completely new written system and has it's production/release status as public Béta. You can register and start posting allready but keep in mind that within two weeks – from the date I'm publishing this – the forumsystem will be completely updated. This may (although I will do a back-up of the database) lead to a loss of all messages.

Ok now the fun part of what you may expect...

  • Our own  VΛ™ Forum;
  • A Public Area in wich everybody can read and post to;
    And I mean EVERYBODY even none
    VΛ™ members!
    This gives everybody the opportunity to communicate with themselves or with us at
    VΛ™. This can also be the place to advertise your account, title or your mother. Imagine the possibilities we VΛ™ gives to the DarkOrbit community!
  • VΛ™ Venus Angels Member Area;
    What do I say more... our OWN place!
  • Moderated by VΛ™;
    We have our own moderator(s). Who knows (almost) everything about DarkOrbit. But most important... THEY ARE INDEPENDED. So expect NO CENSORSHIP  from BP!
  • and more...
Things to do (TODO list):

  • Moderation;
  • Design;
  • and a lot of bugfixing!

Wednesday = Patchday
Written by Loco-Mateo (admin)  -  Wednesday, 26 August 2009 08:11

In the past, Bigpoint put everything on line right away no matter if it was an update, new feature, a bug fix, etc., so that you could profit from the optimizations we made as soon as possible. Unfortunately, every time Bigpoint makes an adjustment to the running system, it can interfere with normal game operations and often leads to new errors.

In order not to put the game operations at any further risk, and to stabilize the running system, Bigpoint decided to put all new changes online once a week, starting immediately. Bigpoint thinks that once a week will be enough to put all revisions on line regularly, which means there will be an weekly update in the future for DarkOrbit, which will be put live on Wednesday.

Whether they’re technical problems, translation errors, etc., all errors which you report to Bigpoint will only be put online on Wednesday by the early afternoon: This also applies to errors which we might have fixed ahead of that time. So we have to wait until the next Wednesday for a fix to go online in case of an error. Bigpoint points out that that some bugs aren’t easy to fix and will take longer than just one week to have them completely solved. In certain (most?) cases, it could even take a little longer than that.

Well we all suffered a really low gaming experience yesterday (tuesday). So let's see what brings this new bugfix policy in future. Tell us what you think. Comments are welcome!

Update on our website

I am glad and also proud to tell you that our website is a big hit. On normal days we are getting an average of 35 unique visitors. And that is a lot for a clan with about 50 members. But not only VΛ™ members visit our website we also attract people from all over the world. Everyone likes our clan (or envy us), even our enemies! We are credited a lot of respect.

Live report: Galaxy Gate Delta

Old Viking was one of the first people in DarkOrbit who jumped the new Galaxy Gate Delta (GGD). And because of our live report on this, we attracted a lot of people. Everyone was curious what the gate looked like, the rewards you get, how to do the gate and the new alien. Because of this we received 1355 visitors! (Old Viking keeps believing that everyone was checking his new helmet, silly old man )
